I don’t get it when people say Monica loved Richard more than Chandler, especially based on the proposal episode. Just because she went to Richard’s apartment after he proposed doesn’t mean she loved him more. I mean she thought Chandler didn’t want to get married, and they were going nowhere. Where would she be then? Almost thirty, facing the end of a two year relationship and starting to search for someone new all over again? Of course she went to talk to Richard, someone who she had previously loved and was offering the life she wanted, anyone would.
But seriously the next part, when she found out Chandler did want to marry her, is the important bit. Because she didn’t just say yes to him over Richard. She actively, completely chose him. She didn’t wait around for him to ask her, she fricking filled their entire apartment with candles and proposed herself! And remember she had an easy out at this point. She could have she couldn’t trust Chandler anymore, she could have told him she was tired of his messing around, she could have just said yes to Richard because he would give what she wanted. And if she truly loved Richard more then she would have done. But she didn’t. She let Chandler know that she wanted him and was willing to do anything to make that happen and that she loved him more than anyone else.
