Anon 1: I don’t know if this is some sort of joke or if you don’t know? Yes, Matty did turn down the role of playing her love interest on Cougar Town in 2009, but they also guest-starred on each other’s shows in 2013. And Matty was on an episode of Cougar Town, so they did work together again recently. But yeah, sometimes I have a feeling they kind of avoid each other. But then they go and flirt like hell via twitter and say all those sweet things about each other and can’t keep touching one another in interviews. Man, weird world.
Anon 2: Yes, she really is engaged to that guy. And sorry to disappoint you, but Courteney and Matthew weren’t a couple – at least not that we know of. But I’m pretty sure everyone feels that way.
Anon 3: Thanks so much for following and for taking the time to message me! They are just super cute together, aren’t they? 20 years later and they still have all that chemistry. Which basically brings me right to the next ask…
Anon 4: Your message seriously meant the world to me. I try to be objective, but I guess it’s not really possible when being part of the fandom. What I have always wanted to say and have noticed when seeing random tweets or even articles (especially during last year, which was a HUGE year for our little Matteney fandom) - is what you have told me as well. Random poeple, even journalists or actor colleagues (take Perez Hilton, Alison Miller (said Matteney were ‘cute!’, Sarah Baker (even posted a tweet about ‘Matteney’) as well as producers (Friends producers, Bill Lawrence) all notice that amazing “chemistry” the two have together. And I have actually never read anything outside of the fandom that said that Matteney should not be together. Hell, my family or even random London 3 -staff (thanks, Tooting branch) thought they were married when seeing pics!
And please also note that all the chemistry that Matteney have on-screen, and that they bring to Mondler only results from that amazing off-screen chemistry! If they didn’t get along in real life all of that clicking they had as Mondler would have never happened.
I could perhaps (perhaps) understand Matteney hate if they didn’t get along or didn’t say all that flirty stuff about each other, but what I know as Matteney is so powerful that I simply cannot understand people who don’t ship them or even hate them together. Remember that all of this shipping doesn’t do anyone any harm and the foundation of all of it is still their friendship. But just by looking at videos of them together or reading quotes about one another I don’t see why you would’t absolutely love them together. There is a reason we ship them – the constant flirting, touching, the way they look at each other and how incredibly happy they are when together should be proof enough. I’m trying not to be biased but I have NEVER seen Courteney smile the way she does when she’s with Matthew.
