I remember reading a friends book a while back and it said that the positions that they sit in on the couch is their preference unless they're sitting somewhere because it's relevant to the script. Also when monica walks in a room that chandler is in or vise versa and they share a quick peck on the lips.. That's all UNSCRIPTED so they choose to cuddle up next to each other and kiss because THEY want to.
