I think Matthew's acting in The Odd Couple has to do with him taking painkillers again... :( I may be wrong, but his acting was also horrible on Mr Sunshine and it turns out he went to rehab right after (in 2011). Also his weight changed a lot in 2014-2015 and pills always have that effect on him (he said it himself: seasons 3 and 7 of Friends he was on pills, season 6 he was drinking). I think TOC gave him a lot of stress and he stopped when shooting ended. I love him and wish him the best
