You know why I can watch Friends over and over and over again without it getting old? I think it’s because when I first watched it, it was airing for the first time and I was a little girl and maybe I didn’t understand all of the jokes, but I loved these people. As time passed I figured out what sex was and this show taught me about adult things like that, without it ruining my childhood. And now as I lay here in bed as a 22 year old watching an episode I realize that I’m almost (almost) as old as they were at the start of the show and none of them had anything figured out and that in relating to their humor, pain, and friendships I feel more well-equipped for life. That they’ve always been my friends since I was a kid and still continue to teach me so much. And ultimately reassure me that I don’t have to have it all figured out tomorrow and that I’m going to be just fine. There’s a reason it’s my favorite show.
